Did it as my very first tri in '10 and it was challenging, but well run. This is not a beginners bike course as it has 4 or 5 tough hills that sucked the everylivingcrap out of my 210 lb body. If you are weak on the bike - start training hills or you will suffer. But it is a scenic area with nice views and friendly folks. The swim was cold, but short. The run is nice, but nothing special - mostly flat until. the. last. hill.
Seems like lots of serious pro were there too, just having fun shaking off the cobwebs.
Last year I did the Tri Rock which was well attended and novel (same weekend), but it was pricey and I hate having to pick up the packet the night before. Also, the bike course at the Tri Rock reminded me of the Star Wars trench speeder scene. One lane, split into two opposing directions, 1000 bicyclists. Thrilling, but I'm too old for that kind of dangerous fun.
May the Force be with you.

Bike was hard as I've ever ridden. The swim was cold but easy and the run was flat and fast. Can't wait 'til this weekend to run it again.
