This was a "no frills" race - There wasn't a lot of communication (if any) once the registration was paid for. Kind of serve yourself Tri. Some other "laid back" things: it wasn't clearly marked when leaving transitions for bike or for run - very few volunteers who helped guide someone new to the area. And the worst part, for the swim, all the buoys were the same color so it was very confusing which buoys were for Intl. and which for Sprint. Some of the Intl. swimmers went the wrong way and had to turn back (must have really ticked them off). Even the emcee didn't know for sure even as various waves were called - insane! As I was finishing the bike part, although there were volunteers nearby, I had to yell "which way do I go?" to make sure I was still on course. The markings should have and could have been easily and better marked. And when I racked my bike at the end, pretty gently, the bike rack fell over and cost me time setting it back up. This race was over $100.00 I think and no medal - talk about cheap. I paid $80ish for my first tri in Palm Springs and had an entirely different experience in all areas. Two good points: registration was easy, we got there early (had to pay another $10.00 to park - PS waved the parking fee), and the water was warm. Hilly terrain for bike and a little for run. I wouldn't do this again for the price and lack or organization.
