This was my second Sprint Tri and I loved the challenge. The swim (although a bit choppy due to incoming storms) was quite nice. I heard that a bunch of people were pulled from the water but I think this was really due to the chop-the lake is actually typically pretty calm. I decided not to wear a wetsuit and was absolutely fine, but I was out of the water pretty quickly. Most people did wear them. I found the bike to be really tough-they mention a grinding 1 mile climb but neglect to mention that there several more climbs after that up until about the 4th mile (if I recall correctly). I felt like the hills were never going to end! This was my weakest leg, so I wish I had prepared better for the hills-others seemed to just zip by with no problem! The run was no sweat, some rolling hills but no big deal. The town was great, the giveaways were awesome (such cool shirts!) and the volunteers were extremely helpful and encouraging. Two fellow competitors broke their bikes on those climbs-wish there could have been a bike tech available to help them!

Good, tough tri. Many, wonderful volunteers. I have one suggestion; the bike route is now going up Old Chilson Road; consider making the first right to make the descent; it is more scenic, a better road, closer to the olympic bike distance, and when it joins the main road, leaves riders less exposed. I plan on doing it next year!

My first time at the North Country Tri, did the sprint race. The water was a little choppy due to the wind and Lake George is always cold, so almost everyone wears a wetsuit. Bike route is very hilly, run is rolling hills along the lake. Many great volunteers, well organized, will do it again.

Hague last year was my first tri and did the olympic distance. I live in Plattsburgh, close enough to visit and do the bike ahead of time which gave me confidence, but it was tough. The race was well run and great water stops etc. Thought the town was great too- happy to see us. Be prepared but I highly recommend giving it a shot!

North Country Triathlon, now in it's fourth year is located on the shores of beautiful Lake George in New York's Adirondack Park. The water is crystal clear, the rides on both the Olympic course and the Sprint are very challenging, and you'll find the run on each of the courses shaded, over gently rolling hills. Volunteers are super helpful and encouraging, and overall the race, located in Hague on the northern part of Lake George, is really well run.
