Good, fast course and pretty well organized. Swim is cold, some very shallow spots (had to adjust my stroke), and a strong current at the top of the turn-around. The bike is advertised as flat and fast, but you end up quite a bit above the river you just swam in and there is some small up and down work towards the far end of the out and back route, but not particularily difficult overall. Run is flat and mostly on dirt and gravel trails through wooded areas and some open fields. Good overall course for both experienced and new triathletes. I can see how someone just trying to endure the swim in order to get on to the other disciplines might have issues though. Good field with some of the top age group talent in the area ( and some from Pdx and Seattle) showing up. Also is very spectator friendly with single transition area and the two loop run course passing back near transition as well. Will do it again.

Great race for the area. It was the first time for this event so it is to be expected that there would be a snafoos...but nothing that took away rom the race itself.
Swim had a current and was a bit cool. You swam up stream and then back. So it was an honest swim, not an exclusive "down current" swim.
Bike was an honest course. Rolling and an out and back.
Run was multi-looped and some out and backs. They could have marked it a little better, but as a competitor if you paid attention, you would be fine. But I know some people had some difficulty with where they were going.
This race had a few, one for sure, very high calibur athlete(s). Though a majority of the race draws from the pacific northwest, and is a highly competitive region, there are also many beginners... Great course for all.
Great race, and I would suspect it will be even better next year.
